A rare aquatic sword plant, originally collected near the Iguazu Falls area around 2009. It's often referred to as the “Iguazu 2009” variant of Echinodorus Opacus
Highly prized in the aquascaping community for its unique appearance, rarity, and adaptability.
Appearance: Broad, textured, sword-shaped leaves, typically deep green but sometimes showing red tones in high-light setups
Growth: Slow-growing—adding roughly one leaf every 1.5 to 2 weeks. It’s described as "super sturdy" and somewhat plasticky to the touch
Care Level: Medium. Not the easiest but not the most difficult—requires patience and attention
Substrate & Fertility: Heavy root feeder; thrives in nutrient-rich substrates like aqua soil. Supplement with root tabs or iron-rich fertilizer, as deficiencies can lead to brown or yellowing leaves
Lighting & CO₂: Preferably medium to high lighting, though moderate works too. CO₂ injection is not mandatory but highly beneficial for color vibrancy and growth rate
Water Conditions: Tolerant of a broad pH range (5.5–9.0). Stable conditions are essential—acute fluctuations can lead to plant melt
